Rated 4 out of 5 by from Safety Jogger "Manager S3" -- Safety Office Shoes This model was launched in the 4th quarter of 2014, based on the Wingtip Oxford design. Recommended break-in period for the leather is 2 weeks of wear. Suggested shoe care product is Red Wing Shoes "Leather Protector" spray. It keeps dirt, salt, and grease on the leather surface so that they can be wiped away easily. Advantages: 1) Rated as S3 for safety standard, this model combines antistatic properties, water resistance (leather upper), puncture resistance (midsole), safety toecaps, and cleated sole. 2) Rated as SRC for slip resistance, this model has the coefficient of friction of both SRA plus SRB combined. 3) The material of the sole is made of double density polyurethane (PU), resulting in very good shock absorption in the heel. Walking fast on hard concrete surface is very comfortable and silent. 4) The sole is injected directly onto the upper creating a strong bonding for the sole, greatly reducing the possibility of the sole falling off from the shoe. 5) The Kevlar puncture resistance (midsole) protects the full surface area of the feet against penetrating objects such as nail and wood screw, unlike steel plate inserts used in other safety shoes which protect only 85% surface area of the feet. 6) Being totally metal-free, this shoe does not trigger off metal detector alarms at high security checkpoints. 7) This model is by far one of the best, combining both puncture resistance (midsole) with safety toecaps. Many other brands of Oxford safety shoe designs only have safety toecaps without puncture resistance (midsole). Disadvantages: 1) The thickness of leather used by Safety Jogger is relatively thin compared to many other major brands of safety shoes. This model is no exception. 2) The polyurethane (PU) sole is known to be vulnerable to hydrolysis. 3) The composite (non-metal) toecap, though is rated to meet the EN ISO 20345:2011 norm, is not as strong as the conventional steel toecap against sharp objects that may cut through the composite (non-metal) toecap. Excessive pressure is known to cause the composite (non-metal) toecap to crumple while conventional steel toecap has greater strength.
